Good tools are half the job
Traditional Estonian wisdom
Swedish brand Hultafors, named after a small village in western Sweden, offers state-of-the-art hand tools for professionals in a range of fields.
The selection of Hultafors tools in TAMREX stores is no coincidence – firstly, the brand is an undisputed leader in its field, and secondly, these tools are designed alongside Snickers Workwear work trousers and to fit onto them.
It makes perfect sense that if you buy premium work trousers, you should leave a TAMREX store with the right premium tools you need, too!
Centuries of Swedish experience
The axe is the Hultafors tool with the longest history. Since 1697, these axes have been hand-forged at the Hults Bruk forge in Sweden, using methods that others no longer have the skills or are willing to invest in.
The tool with the second-longest tradition is the folding rule: a much-loved tool invented in Scandinavia and used around the world. The folding rule was designed in 1883 by a young engineer, Karl-Hilmer Johansson Kollén, to help a world that had just switched from inches to the metric system. Kollén printed the new metric scale on one side of the folding rule and inches on the other. It soon became clear that a long measuring rule that could be folded up was a practical tool in many other respects too.
Alongside these, the Hultafors range includes a wealth of other premium tools, each of which stands out in some way: through an innovative feature, exceptional durability, functionality, ease of handling or other qualities. This is why many Hultafors tools have won the Red Dot Design Award for their smart, innovative approach.
When developing its tools, HULTAFORS places particular emphasis on precision, reliability, ease and safety of use and, of course, durability. The result is premium tools that can handle even the most demanding tasks and fit a skilled professional’s hand perfectly.
Tools are developed in collaboration with leading professionals from various trades who use them in their daily work. Working conditions and techniques are analysed, professionals’ needs and expectations are identified, and development continues until everyone is satisfied with the result. This makes Hultafors tools the obvious choice for skilled professionals!
Hultafors handcrafted axes
The Hults Bruk forge in Östergötland has been operating since 1697. Its blacksmiths still carry on an axe-making tradition that stretches back more than 300 years.
Only a handful of manufacturers worldwide employ blacksmiths with the skills to create such a masterpiece.
It is not about stubbornly insisting on making axes the old-fashioned way, but about producing axes that are significantly stronger, sharper and easier to handle. Hultafors blacksmiths give the axe heads in the premium range a lifetime guarantee!
While a production-line axe head is shaped with an average of 5 blows, a blacksmith forges a Hultafors axe head by hand with 40–60 blows, until completely satisfied with its shape. The hickory handle is durable and ergonomically shaped. An attractive, thick leather axe sheath protects the cutting edge when the axe is not in use, while a two-stage sharpening stone lets you refresh the edge from time to time.
The Hultafors axe range includes short-handled hiking axes, long-handled forest axes and everything in between, with axes designed for a variety of tasks.

The legendary Hultafors folding rule
Red ends, pale downy birch and flawlessly working joints – the folding rule, Hultafors' flagship product, has been manufactured continuously for nearly 140 years. Over time, this tool has achieved legendary status, first in Sweden and then around the world.
Hultafors folding rules are made from downy birch. Birch wood is pale, making the printed markings easy to read. Birch is a readily available, straight and flexible material with a smooth grain and few knots.
Every folding rule section is checked twice during production using a high-speed camera. The first pass rejects sections with knots and cross grain. After this assessment, the remaining sections are photographed again to check that the scale meets the requirements. Production is certified to the ISO9001 quality management standard.
Accurate measurements meet EU Class III requirements
- Maximum deviation for a 2 m folding rule: +/- 1.4 mm
- Maximum deviation for a 1 m folding rule: +/- 1 mm
- Maximum deviation across joints: +/- 0.5 mm.
The folding rule's slim, 17 mm sections are coated with a water-based protective lacquer, providing added resistance to dirt and moisture. Both sides of the folding rule have a metric scale printed in black, with decimetres highlighted in red.
The strong Swedish steel joints work flawlessly for years. The joints are heat-treated, oiled and epoxy-coated.

Hultafors chisels
Forged in one piece, the Hultafors HDC chisel is exceptionally strong, transfers force extremely well and can be laid flat against the work surface.
With a Hultafors HDC chisel, you can carry out demolition work or carve a fine wooden masterpiece, using a wider or narrower blade as appropriate. This tool won a Red Dot award in 2015 for outstanding design.
The first time you use an HDC chisel, you immediately feel how the impact force is transferred to the workpiece. In your hand is a chisel with a unique steel construction, forged in one piece and extending through the entire handle. The robust design gives the chisel extreme durability, exceptional strength and impact resistance.
What makes the HDC chisel unique is that you can lay it flat against the work surface. This allows you, for example, to prise up tiles without damaging the surface underneath. The ergonomic handle with its slip-resistant Santoprene coating provides a firm, secure grip.
This is a truly sharp chisel for you if you need even more power, greater functionality and better precision.
The expertly sharpened blade with a 25° bevel provides the best possible balance between sharpness and durability.
The white nylon end cap on the handle withstands all your blows, while the perforated base of the PP plastic sheath prevents wood debris from accumulating.

Hultafors wrecking bars
The Hultafors wrecking bar range includes a unique product: a bar with an adjustable claw, which has 9 different positions.
Winner of the Red Dot design award in 2012, this tool features an innovation that offers significantly more ways to use it and makes work more comfortable.
The Hultafors adjustable wrecking bar is designed to give you an ergonomic working position if you use a wrecking bar every day, offering many more options for finding a comfortable position when applying maximum force. It also makes it easier to reach tight and awkward spaces.
Made from premium-quality steel, the wrecking bar is very strong and durable, even at the adjustable joint.
Hultafors wrecking bars are made from high-alloy boron steel, which bends rather than breaks under excessive pressure. This is a very important detail for workplace safety. The wrecking bars have wide, polished contact surfaces and tapered claw tips that easily reach nails without leaving marks on the work surface.
At TAMREX, you will find Hultafors wrecking bars in various sizes, from a very small mini wrecking bar to large, heavy-duty models. The range also includes bending bars, the clever ATLE nail puller, and lifting and pry bars made from iron and aluminium.

Hultafors handsaws
The Hultafors development team once sat down with a handsaw and started thinking about how to improve this tool. All right, let’s change the teeth and make them sharper, make it more resistant to rust, add clever angles and measuring aids, and make the blade replaceable. But what else? How could they surprise the world?
They visited various tradespeople and asked what bothered them most about their saws. The biggest problem was actually quite surprising. It turned out that what drove them mad was the practically invisible blade cover, which kept going missing.
So, the blade cover on Hultafors handsaws is large, red and incredibly easy to fit and remove. The tradespeople were delighted and loved Hultafors even more.
Besides the highly visible blade cover, Hultafors saws naturally have several other advantages. The teeth on the flagship HBX saw feature unique 3-phase sharpening, ensuring a straight, clean cut. Made from 1 mm steel, the saw has an environmentally friendly wax-based powder coating that helps it glide smoothly. The tapered blade tip lets you reach awkward places and start cutting in the middle of the material. The ergonomic handle makes work more comfortable and reduces blade vibration, and can easily be attached to a new blade.
In the TAMREX range, you will find handsaws in various lengths, a hacksaw and a bow saw.

Hultafors measuring tools: tapes, lines, lasers
Hultafors tape measures
When choosing a tape measure, accuracy is the most important consideration, followed by the locking mechanism and ease of use, which directly affects your performance.
A high level of accuracy is key when choosing a tape measure. Look at how the measuring scale is printed on the tape. Hultafors' patented inkjet technology is extremely accurate and abrasion-resistant, while good contrast and a matt finish make the scale easier to read. All Hultafors steel tape measures are classified in the best possible accuracy class, Class I (in accordance with the EU standard).
Locking mechanism - high accuracy is only achieved if the tape stays in place when you lock it. Try the brake before buying a new tape measure. The tape should be easy to lock and should stay in place until you release it. Also pay attention to how the tape retracts. Choose tape measures with smooth retraction and an abrasion-resistant impact brake: they last longer and are more pleasant to work with.
User-friendliness – the quality of your work is closely linked to how comfortable you are while working. Ergonomic tools that fit your hands are not only more comfortable but also improve your performance. With tape measures, it is important to choose a case that fits comfortably in your hand. When holding the tape measure, you should be able to use all its functions without difficulty.
The Hultafors family of steel tape measures is unbeatable for accuracy. With excellent ergonomics, smart features and a durable case alongside this accuracy, tradespeople need look no further. The best tool is Hulafors!
Until quite recently, Hultafors PR, BT and SL tape measures were the only ones in the best possible accuracy class (certified to EC Class I). Today, a handful of other manufacturers have joined them. You will find the corresponding marking on the tape measure.

Hultafors Talmeter marking tape measure – measure and mark
Invented in 1954 by Swedish engineer Ture Andres Ljungberg (initials TAL), the Hultafors Talmeter marking tape measure lets you take both external and internal measurements, mark the work surface immediately or transfer a measurement from one object to another without reading the measurement.
You can also use it to draw arcs and, depending on the model, measure diameters and circumferences. Explore the possibilities!
A distinctive feature of this tape measure is the option to keep the tape locked by default. Pull the tape out and it stays in place immediately, without retracting into the case on its own. To retract the tape, press the large button with your thumb. Depending on the model, the large button has several possible positions.

Hultafors screwdrivers
Swedish design and German craftsmanship: this neatly sums up Hultafors screwdrivers.
Hultafors screwdrivers are developed and designed in Hultafors, Sweden, known for its Scandinavian styling and ergonomic design. The screwdrivers are manufactured in Germany to ensure premium quality.
Hultafors screwdriver blades are made from premium steel, molybdenum-vanadium steel, and hardened in accordance with ISO standards to ensure the best performance without compromising strength or durability.
Outstanding ergonomics are ensured by developing Hultafors screwdrivers together with tradespeople from various fields who use them every day: electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other specialists. Different hand positions and tasks have been taken into account. For example, the screwdrivers have longer handles for significantly greater comfort while working. The handles are made from durable PPC plastic and coated with rubber to provide a firmer grip and therefore greater precision.
Clear, visible and lasting markings proved to be a major concern for tradespeople, according to surveys. Hultafors screwdrivers were therefore given colour codes and symbols to identify the tool model and size. The symbols are printed on the end of the screwdriver handle so they do not wear off too quickly, and laser-marked on the blade.
Electrical work involves several additional hazards, and a high-quality Hultafors tool can go a long way towards preventing them. Above all, precision is essential in electrical work, and excellent ergonomics ensure this. Hultafors VDE screwdrivers for electricians have insulated blades that are safe to use on electrical installations with voltages up to 1000 V. VDE screwdrivers are tested and certified in accordance with IEC 60900. They are available with slotted, Phillips, Torx and Pozidriv tips, and we have also added voltage testers.

Hultafors spirit levels
Vials, or liquid-filled containers, show whether a surface is level – they are the most important components of a spirit level!
The liquid in the vials is usually oil or alcohol, allowing the air bubble inside to move freely. The vials in different spirit levels may look similar, but their design and mounting methods actually vary considerably between manufacturers. This leads to major differences in measurement accuracy and permitted deviation.
The way a vial is mounted in the profile determines its sensitivity to temperature and impacts. In the best spirit levels, the vials are secured in a tensioning wedge using ultrasonic welding or clips, ensuring maximum accuracy and durability
The vials in Hultafors spirit levels contain a low-viscosity coloured oil mixture. This gives the bubble optimal freedom of movement and makes the reading easy to see. Slim vials have a magnifying lens to make readings easier: it enlarges the bubble and rings, allowing you to take accurate readings from any position. A luminous reflector behind the vial makes readings easier to see in low light
The oil in Hultafors spirit level vials is highly resistant to both UV radiation and temperature fluctuations, ensuring consistent bubble movement from -20 °C to +60 °C. Temperature resistance also helps prevent additional bubbles from forming if the level is knocked.
Static electricity can affect the accuracy of spirit level readings. This is why Hultafors spirit levels are equipped with antistatic vials.
In addition to highly accurate readings, Hultafors spirit levels offer many other distinctive features. Depending on the model, these include durable plastic or aluminium construction, different lengths (10 cm to 2 m) and vials set at different angles. The range also includes post levels, line levels, magnetic levels and more
