Uppers made from water-repellent full-grain leather and TechShell

Full-grain leather remains one of the most highly regarded materials for shoe uppers. This is because of its combination of properties, which synthetic materials have not been able to replicate. Full-grain leather is durable and flexible, water-repellent and breathable.

COFRA Beira boots are made using premium full-grain leather from Italy. Regular treatment with leather grease or another suitable leather care product is recommended. This helps maintain the leather's natural properties and extends the service life of the boots.

The uppers combine full-grain leather with particularly durable TechShell fabric, which offers excellent tear and abrasion resistance. TechShell is strong, water-repellent and breathable.

Waterproof Gore-Tex® lining

These boots are made fully waterproof by an insulated Gore-Tex® lining, keeping feet dry and warm. The reliability of Core-Tex® technology (waterproofing + breathability) is based on the fact that water vapour molecules are smaller than water molecules. The fabric fibres are therefore sized so that excess warm, moist air can escape from the footwear, while water cannot enter from outside.

During very active movement, Gore-Tex® may not allow enough body heat to escape from inside the footwear. Merino wool-blend socks are therefore recommended: they help keep feet warm even when slightly damp with perspiration, resist unpleasant odours and provide additional warmth during work involving little or moderate movement.

These boots feature an insulated Gore-Tex® lining, which adds a thin yet effective insulating layer to the Gore-Tex® membrane.

The warm Core-Tex® lining is covered with a durable, abrasion-resistant layer of TechShell fabric.

Comfortable BOA® quick fastening

BOA® improves the boots’ ease of use, durability and safety. It has been tested in the most extreme conditions: water and sand, mud and dust, cold and heat. The strong steel cable comprises 49 extremely fine stainless-steel strands covered with a durable nylon coating.

Putting the shoes on and taking them off is quick and easy. The cable can be tightened with one hand, without removing gloves. BOA® secures the shoes evenly and firmly throughout the working day. Very small adjustment increments allow BOA® tension to be tailored particularly precisely to each foot. BOA® also improves safety: there are no loose laces to catch on anything.

The BOA® quick-fastening system is covered by a warranty for the lifetime of the footwear.

The BOA® closure on COFRA Beira boots is positioned centrally. In most cases, the position of BOA® does not matter, but in certain working environments or positions a side-mounted BOA® closure may get in the way. Conversely, a side-mounted BOA® provides more room for tightening the cable.

Durable PU/nitrile rubber outsole

The outsole material is important for both slip resistance and temperature tolerance. Outsoles made exclusively of PU become stiff and slippery in cold weather.

By contrast, the Cold Defender outsoles of COFRA Beira boots contain nitrile rubber and retain their slip resistance and durability in temperatures down to -25 degrees, while withstanding temperatures of up to 300 degrees (contact 1 min). The durable nitrile rubber extends higher over the toe to improve abrasion resistance in this area.

The Cold Barrier insole also retains warmth. Its anatomical shape supports the foot and absorbs walking impacts. The antistatic insole is made from soft, scented polyurethane and covered with a thin, heat-insulating fleece layer.

Metal-free protective components and wide last

The boots feature a fibreglass safety toe cap (200 J) to protect against heavy falling objects. A puncture-resistant midsole made from tough yet lightweight and flexible textile (Zero Perforation) protects feet against sharp objects on the ground.

The boots have a comfortable, well-fitting wide last (12 Mondopoint).
