A serious illness led to the development of tick-protective clothing
ROVINCE was founded and is owned by two hunters, Rob and Vincent. One of them suffered serious health problems following a tick bite and, after a long and difficult recovery in 2007, decided to look for ways to prevent this from happening again.
After a lengthy search, the men found a fabric manufacturer in Belgium that had already been producing effective tick-protective clothing for the military for over 30 years. A partnership agreement followed, leading to the first small collection of ROVINCE tick-protective clothing. The top products from the ever-expanding ROVINCE clothing range are now available in TAMREX stores and online shop.
How does rovince tick-protective clothing work? ROVINCE tick-protective clothing is impregnated with permethrin. This widely used substance has been an ingredient in many other products for decades and is familiar from various ointments, insect repellents and even mattresses and curtains, where it provides protection against parasites.
Permethrin is a naturally occurring substance found in chrysanthemums that is toxic to ticks but causes no harmful effects in humans in small quantities.
When a tick lands on the protective clothing, it experiences a so-called “hot feet” effect and falls off.
This is passive protection. The substance remains firmly bound within the fabric and is not spontaneously released into the environment. As a result, the clothing has no distinctive smell and, unlike with spray-on insect repellents, you cannot inhale the substance into your lungs.
We recommend wearing tick-protective clothing only when you enter an at-risk area. This means the clothing needs washing less often and the tick protection lasts longer.
The clothing is manufactured in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines and requirements. It also complies with the Dutch NEN-8333 standard, which sets technical and quality requirements for long-term protection against ticks and safeguards your health.
Tick protection lasts for 100 washes
ROVINCE tick-protective clothing is made using a unique method. While protective treatments are usually applied to finished garments, ROVINCE applies them earlier in the production process. The fabric is impregnated first and then made into clothing.
This provides more effective, longer-lasting protection, as the substance remains more firmly bound within the fabric and only a very small amount is lost with each wash. Protection against ticks lasts for as many as 100 washes.
This method has been used in the clothing industry for nearly 40 years, previously mainly for military clothing. Thanks to ROVINCE’s initiative, the effective protection originally developed for the army is now available to everyone.

Where should you start?
As ticks are mainly found at heights of 0–80 cm above the ground, your first priority should be tick-protective socks and trousers. This ensures that the parts of your body closest to ticks are well protected when you walk through tall grass.

Bamboo fabric is durable, breathable and antibacterial. This makes the polo shirt ideal for warm weather, while also offering you protection against ticks.
Like wool, bamboo also regulates the microclimate next to your skin: it cools you down in hot weather and helps keep you warm in the cold.
The polo shirt’s fabric contains as much as 52% bamboo, along with 22% cotton, 22% polyester and 4% spandex. Fabric weight: 170 g/m².
