WOOLPOWER Lite merino wool long johns
- Warm and breathable
- Thoughtful design
- Does not itch
- Easy care
- Durability
Woolpower wool garments have numerous benefits: excellent insulation, breathability, a non-itchy feel, infrequent washing requirements, resistance to perspiration odours, suitability for washing at 60 °C, durability and warmth even when wet, to name a few.
Warm and breathable
Thin merino wool long johns feel soft and comfortable against the skin. Made in Sweden, they are suited to milder conditions when only a little extra warmth is needed. The denser knit makes the fabric cooler and thinner, providing less insulation than Woolpower 200, 400 or 600 garments even though it contains a higher proportion of wool than wool terry fabric. Woolpower Lite garments can be worn all year round. They provide warmth when you feel cold and a cooling effect when you are too warm. Layering them with other Woolpower garments offers versatile combinations for different conditions.
Depending on the specific garment (LITE range, wool terry 200, 400, etc.), the specially knitted merino wool fabric provides excellent insulation. The thicker the wool layer, the more air it can trap (as in wool terry), helping to retain body heat more effectively.
Thoughtful design
The unique circular-knitted construction is a thoughtful solution, as numerous seams can sometimes cause discomfort.
The thin merino wool long johns feel soft and comfortable against the skin. Their distinctive construction, with just one lengthwise seam on the outside of each leg (no inside-leg seams) and an elastic waistband, provides comfort.
Does not itch
Many people say they cannot tolerate wool against their skin. In reality, wool fibres vary greatly. Exploring the reasons for itching takes us all the way to what merino sheep eat and how they live.
Sheep that spend the whole year outdoors grazing on fresh vegetation produce long, fine and curly wool fibres. Merino sheep that spend part of the year indoors eating dried or prepared feed have shorter, coarser and stiffer fibres. Garments made from such fibres itch because the fibres are not soft enough to bend against the skin.
Woolpower works with merino sheep farms on the fertile lands of Patagonia and Uruguay.
From happy sheep to happy people!
Easy care
One of merino wool’s natural properties is its antibacterial character. This is convenient for those who wear wool: the garment resists perspiration odours and does not need frequent washing (airing outdoors or in a well-ventilated room is often sufficient). When washing is necessary, use a 60 °C programme and Woolpower wool detergent, whose lanolin content helps preserve the garment’s beneficial properties. This helps keep Woolpower garments in use for many years.
Durability
The outer layer of Woolpower merino wool clothing contains a small proportion of synthetic fibres to extend its useful life. The surface in contact with the skin, however, is entirely natural and comfortable.
PLEASE NOTE: This is natural merino wool! The small wool pills that appear over time with wear are evidence of this. We proudly call them “pills of pride” :), as a practical, simple and slightly rugged appearance is characteristic of Woolpower wearers.
