A few years ago, the Snickers Workwear development team began thinking about updating their winter jackets. It was a challenging task, because it is hard to make a successful, well-loved product even better. But the Swedes have moved mountains before and come up with completely new ideas.
An update is only worthwhile if it makes something better. Great solutions that customers love are best left alone. For example, the expertly shaped and positioned 3D cuts that follow your body's movements have remained unchanged in the new winter jackets. This means you can continue to enjoy the familiar comfort and freedom of movement.
What customers mainly wanted from the new models was a fresh design and some interesting new features. Customers are increasingly keen to see recycled materials in products and more environmentally friendly production. These were the starting points for several years of development work.
Greater focus on environmentally friendly materials
Over ten years ago, when the previous jackets were being developed, environmental protection, sustainability and material recycling were not as prominent as they are today. Attitudes have changed, and more and more markets favour goods made from recycled materials when making purchasing decisions.
Snickers Workwear is also investing significant effort and money in monitoring, assessing and improving its operations and their impact, while avoiding the trap of making changes that are merely for show or compromise the quality and durability of its clothing.
The cornerstone of Snickers Workwear’s approach to environmental sustainability is to keep clothing in use for as long as possible. The manufacturing process is known to account for the greatest environmental impact across a garment’s entire life cycle. This means striving both to make and to buy clothing of the highest possible quality and durability.
However, manufacturers of premium goods face a challenge: recycled materials are often not as durable as those made from virgin raw materials. The Snickers Workwear development team therefore spent considerable time finding recycled materials with equal or better durability.
REPREVE® lining made from recycled plastic bottles
The new Snickers Workwear jackets contain more environmentally sustainable components than previous models. For example, the thermal insulation layer consists of 90% recycled REPREVE® polyester and 10% conventional recycled polyester.
REPREVE® polyester is a premium-quality fibre tested in multiple ways to ensure effective insulation while remaining extremely lightweight. As a result, the new jackets weigh less but are warmer (having passed cold testing in accordance with EN 342).
REPREVE® is one of the world’s leading producers of environmentally sustainable materials. To date, over 40 billion plastic bottles have been recycled for textile production and turned into high-quality functional polyester fibre.
The outer fabric of the new jackets is made from extremely durable recycled polyamide fibre (Nylon66). Compared with previous models, the fabric of the new models achieves the same abrasion resistance test results, but is lighter and more environmentally sustainable. Strategically placed, tough Cordura® panels give the jackets extra strength.
The polyester lining fabric of the new jackets is solution-dyed, which means the textile fibres are dyed before processing and spinning into yarn. Dyes are added to the fibres during synthesis, while the material is still in its liquid state. This makes the colour part of the fibre structure, making it more resistant to wear and washing. Solution-dyed fabrics are more environmentally sustainable because the process uses less water, fewer chemicals and less electricity than traditional dyeing methods.
The stretchy inner cuffs inside the sleeves and the mesh pocket on the inside of the jacket’s front panel are also made from recycled polyester.
Tested waterproofing (EN 343)
Rain and sleet do not just get you wet – they make you cold too. Working, hiking or simply spending time outdoors in these conditions is neither comfortable nor healthy. Like the previous range, the new models include a 100% waterproof yet breathable winter jacket and a longer-cut parka. In fact, tests show that the new jackets offer even better waterproofing.
The waterproof jacket and parka have taped seams and a flap over the front zip, secured with press studs, to keep out wind and rain. Both waterproof jackets comply with the EN 343 standard for protective clothing against rain.
While waterproof jackets tend to be made from stiff, dense, non-breathable laminated material, the Snickers Workwear winter jacket and parka are noticeably soft. The fabric is highly flexible, slightly stretchy and breathable.
Bear in mind that you can get wet even in waterproof clothing if your work is intense enough to generate a lot of body heat. Waterproof jackets are breathable only up to a point. During very strenuous activity, the extra body heat may not escape from inside the jacket quickly enough. You can help by briefly opening the zip to let excess heat escape, or by removing a mid-layer.
When choosing clothing for the colder months, it is important to consider how active you will be. Dress in three layers: choose warm, functional base layers, an insulating mid-layer and a weatherproof outer layer.
POWER POCKET - chest pocket with cold protection for your phone
One of the most notable features of the new Snickers Workwear jackets is Power Pocket - a chest pocket with a cold-protection panel for storing your phone.
Your own body keeps your phone warm from the inside. A PrimaLoft Gold Aerogel insulation panel (a material invented by NASA) is fitted between the lining layers on the outer side of the chest pocket, preventing your phone battery from draining too quickly in sub-zero temperatures.
A waterproof zip keeps moisture away from your phone in the chest pocket. The pocket also includes a work ID holder secured with a press stud.
Exceptional freedom of movement with 3D cuts
Try this jacket on and you will immediately feel that it fits like a glove!
A great deal of effort has gone into these jackets to offer you unprecedented comfort and freedom of movement. Carefully considered cuts, seams and specially shaped panels in different fabrics make this jacket a garment that follows your body's movements. Here are some of the details that make this possible.
Click to find out more
Pre-bent sleeves
The cut and seams give the jacket's sleeves a pre-bent shape during manufacture, following the natural bend of your arms. This leaves your arms free to move and prevents the jacket from riding up when you raise them.
Shorter at the front, longer at the back
The shorter front hem gives you easy access to your trouser pockets and holster pockets, and makes sitting more comfortable (in a car, for example), as the fabric does not bunch up in your lap. The longer back hem keeps your back well covered and warm, even when you bend over.
A well-fitting hood
The comfortable, well-fitting hood on the waterproof jacket and parka has a short, projecting peak that keeps rainwater out of your eyes and off your face. The peak is reinforced to prevent it from drooping over your eyes. The hood's cut protects your head without restricting your field of vision. The detachable hood can be adjusted around your face and at the back of your head using an elastic cord.
Part-raglan sleeves give you greater freedom of movement than previous models. You will notice this particularly if you have broad shoulders or a fuller waist.
A high collar that follows your jawline
Lined with pleasantly soft, warm fleece, the high collar has a distinctive shape. Its cut follows your jawline and provides effective protection for your neck against cold wind, snow and rain. The collar extends higher at the back while sitting comfortably at chin height at the front.
With its optimal height and width, the collar comfortably covers your neck, keeping wind and precipitation out.
To prevent skin injuries and chafing, a soft, folded-over edge has been added at the top of the zip, allowing the zip slider to tuck underneath it.
CORDURA® durability
Compared with previous models, the new Snickers Workwear jackets use more tough, durable Cordura® fabric. This highly abrasion-resistant material extends the jacket's lifespan.
Cordura® 300 fabric panels are positioned along the jacket's lower hem, across the upper back and on the undersides of the forearms. These are the areas that wear out fastest, where Cordura® offers the greatest benefit. By comparison, older models only had Cordura® on the sleeves.
Functional pockets inside and out
The new jackets have plenty of cleverly positioned pockets, both large and small.
Two zipped side pockets are lined with soft fleece. Inside the jacket, there is a spacious mesh pocket on the right and a wide pocket at the bottom left for drawings or papers. You can also use it to store your hat or gloves. There are also two pen compartments on the inside.
Numerous details quietly do their job
Having covered the main features that make the new Snickers Workwear winter jackets top-class garments, it is worth noting that there are many more details quietly performing their small but important tasks.
3D mesh in the back collects excess body heat, retains as much as you need and releases the rest from the jacket. Remember to dress in layers in cold weather. This helps maintain an optimal microclimate between your clothing layers, preventing you from getting cold or sweaty. Your base layer deserves the most attention. Effective thermal underwear is the foundation of comfort and helps transfer excess moisture to the next layers. This keeps you feeling dry and warm all day long.
The asymmetrical design of the sleeve ends allows rainwater to run off the jacket without getting your hands wet. A welcome addition is the elasticated inner cuff with a thumb hole on each sleeve. A high-quality, long-lasting hook-and-loop fastening lets you adjust the width of the sleeve ends.
Further adjustment is provided by an elastic drawcord sewn into the jacket’s lower hem, with cord locks on both sides. For safety, all drawcord ends (including those on the hood) are sewn to the jacket. This prevents them from getting caught on anything.
If your jacket’s zip slider wears out over time, you do not need to buy a new jacket or replace the entire zip: you can simply remove the worn slider and replace it with a new one. Spare parts are available at TAMREX.
The new jackets use the best materials and components, from the fabrics right down to the very last thread. The reliable, durable WASA press studs and YKK zip also deserve a mention.
Cleverly positioned reinforcement stitching supports areas where seams are prone to giving way.
Attractive reflective details on the arms, hood and lower back help you stand out in beams of light at dusk and in the dark.

Snickers Workwear Gore-Tex® waterproof and breathable winter jacket
This Snickers Workwear winter jacket is like a fully equipped luxury car, offering unparalleled comfort, freedom of movement and protection from precipitation and the cold. The jacket looks luxurious and keeps you warm.
This functional jacket is the only choice for you if you demand nothing but the best. What makes it special is the collaboration between several of the world’s leading material manufacturers. Exceptionally soft, two-layer Gore-Tex® protects you from the elements, while 37.5® technology regulates the temperature inside. The Snickers Workwear development team brings these premium components together into an outstanding whole.
100% waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex®
Gore-Tex® garments are extremely durable and waterproof, keeping you dry and comfortable even on the longest days. All seams are covered with special Gore-Seam® tape. This prevents rain from getting in through the seams.
Gore-Tex® keeps rainwater firmly out while allowing excess body heat to escape. Every 1 cm² of Gore-Tex® fabric contains 3.5 billion pores, which are 20 000 times smaller than a water droplet but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This allows only water vapour generated by body heat to pass through the pores, not raindrops.
37.5® technology insulation layer and 3D mesh lining
The 37.5® insulation layer, combined with an attractive and effective 3D mesh lining, provides an optimal microclimate for your body. This innovative technology is based on moisture regulation. Excess moisture is precisely what makes you feel too hot, or cold as you cool down. Active particles made from volcanic sand and incorporated into the fabric contain billions of micropores, which significantly increase the material’s surface area. These particles absorb infrared radiation in the spectrum emitted by the human body and turn it into a driving force. This force activates the material’s functionality.
When no moisture is present, the particles retain the energy generated by your body to keep you warm. As physical activity increases and moisture forms as sweat vapour, the particles use this energy to move excess moisture out of the fabric while it is still water vapour, before sweat can build up. The active particles quickly spread the moisture over a larger area of fabric, allowing it to start evaporating sooner.
When the temperature inside the jacket drops, the active particles release the stored body heat back to you to maintain the temperature.
In addition, 37.5 technology traps unpleasant body odour and releases it only during washing. These volcanic sand particles remain firmly embedded in the fabric throughout the garment’s life.
Functional throughout, technically sophisticated and luxuriously stylish, this winter jacket is a premium, effective outer garment that meets the EN 343 standard for protective clothing against rain. This standard also tests the product’s strength and tear resistance, as fabric durability is essential for waterproof clothing to retain its functionality.
