WOOLPOWER 200 men’s merino wool long johns

88,00 € incl. VAT

These warm, soft merino wool long johns are made from a unique terry-knit wool fabric developed by Woolpower in collaboration with the Swedish Army. The wool terry fabric traps body heat and retains it effectively.

The circular-knit construction (without lengthwise seams that could rub) eliminates side seams. A gusset at the back and a practical fly at the front provide excellent comfort.

Durable, easy-care (no frequent washing needed) merino wool long johns with antibacterial properties, suitable as a base layer on cold winter days or as a mid-layer in extremely cold conditions (with Woolpower Lite long johns underneath).

Woolpower base and mid-layer clothing is made entirely in Sweden. It is easy to care for, does not irritate even very sensitive skin and provides exceptional warmth in the most extreme conditions.

Made in Sweden, these warm long johns can be worn as a base layer in cold conditions or over Lite long johns as a mid-layer in very cold conditions. Different combinations with other Woolpower garments work well in a range of conditions; finding the right combination takes some experimentation.

Wool terry (Ullfrotte Original) is a warm, durable and easy-care merino wool fabric developed in 1970 together with the Swedish army to keep soldiers stationed at remote camps in northern Sweden warm. Its outside is smooth and durable, while the terry loops inside trap plenty of body heat.

These long johns keep legs warm and dry. Their carefully designed circular-knit construction provides comfort by reducing potentially irritating seams. The legs are knitted in the round. The seat seam is moved out to either side to form a gusset that improves freedom of movement, while a practical front fly adds convenience. Soft, stretchy cuffs at the ankles keep the legs in place.

Woolpower wool garments have numerous benefits: excellent insulation, breathability, a non-itchy feel, infrequent washing requirements, resistance to perspiration odours, suitability for washing at 60 °C, durability and warmth even when wet, to name a few.

Warm and breathable!

Depending on the garment (Lite range, wool terry 200, 400, 600 and others), the specially knitted merino wool fabric offers excellent insulation. The thicker the wool layer, the more air it can trap (as in wool terry), helping to retain body heat more effectively.

Does not itch!

Many people say they cannot tolerate wool against their skin. In reality, wool fibres vary greatly. Exploring the reasons for itching takes us all the way to what merino sheep eat and how they live.

Sheep that spend the whole year outdoors grazing on fresh vegetation produce long, fine and curly wool fibres. Merino sheep that spend part of the year indoors eating dried or prepared feed have shorter, coarser and stiffer fibres. Garments made from such fibres itch because the fibres are not soft enough to bend against the skin.

Woolpower works with merino sheep farms on the fertile lands of Patagonia and Uruguay.

From happy sheep to happy people!

Easy care!

One of the natural properties of merino wool is its antibacterial action. This is convenient for wool wearers: the garment resists perspiration odours and does not need frequent washing (airing it outdoors or in a well-ventilated room is often enough). When washing is needed, a 60-degree programme and Woolpower wool detergent can be used. The lanolin in the detergent helps preserve the garment's desirable properties wash after wash, allowing Woolpower clothing to be worn for many years.

Durability!

The outer layer of Woolpower merino wool clothing contains a small proportion of synthetic fibres to extend its useful life. The surface in contact with the skin, however, is entirely natural and comfortable.

Please note: this is natural merino wool. The wool pills that develop over time with wear are proof of this. We call them our 'pills of pride' :), because practicality, simplicity and a slightly rugged look are characteristic of Woolpower wearers.
