From 4 July 2025, the use of fluorine-containing (PFAS / PFOA) fire-extinguishing foams is no longer permitted. The new TAMREX lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher complies with the new regulations.
The TAMREX lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher is designed to protect lithium-ion-battery-powered devices such as laptops, tablets, power banks and chargers. The extinguisher is also rated for class F fires involving cooking oils and fats.
Battery fires
Lithium-ion batteries pose a particular fire risk because their high energy density requires sufficient cooling even when a smaller battery catches fire.
The TAMREX 6L lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher has been tested to the Dutch standard NTA8133:2021, which sets requirements for extinguishers intended for lithium-ion batteries. The TAMREX 6 L lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher is designed to extinguish batteries up to 600 Wh.
Special extinguishing agent
The extinguishing agent is a highly effective foam whose low surface tension allows it to penetrate burning materials quickly and extinguish the fire by cooling the area around the battery.

When batteries catch fire, nearby materials can also ignite and may need both extinguishing and cooling.
Fire ratings: 27A – 75F
In addition to battery fires, the TAMREX 6 L lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher can be used on burning solid materials (A) and cooking oils and fats (F), preventing spontaneous reignition. It is also suitable for electrical equipment energised at up to 1000 V.
- Class A: solid materials that form embers when burning (wood, paper, textiles, plastic and combustible fibres).
- Class F: cooking oils and fats.
The number preceding the fire class letter indicates the size of fire that the particular extinguisher is capable of extinguishing, as determined by testing.
Inspection and servicing
Have the TAMREX lithium-ion battery and wet chemical extinguisher inspected every 2 years and serviced after use.
