Waterproof Goretex® membrane

SOLID GEAR Bound Tactical boots deliver maximum performance in challenging outdoor conditions. The Goretex® membrane makes the boots waterproof and allows some excess heat to escape from inside the footwear.

We recommend wearing merino wool socks with Goretex® footwear, because during very active movement body heat can still build up inside the boots and make socks damp. Merino socks keep your feet warm even when damp! In warmer weather or during very active walking, wear thin merino socks; for colder days or less active pursuits, keep a few pairs of thicker merino socks available.

Durable Dyneema® and Cordura® uppers

Dyneema® is the strongest fibre in the world among those known today. The extremely light yet strong fibres give the boot uppers exceptional durability.

The raw material for Dyneema® fibre is a gas called ethylene, from which a very fine powder (UH) is first produced. The powder is then dissolved, heated and pressed through a plate with hundreds of small holes. The resulting elongated molecules already resemble fibres, and the exceptionally strong Dyneema® begins to take shape. During stretching, the molecules are aligned even more precisely into fibres, creating an extraordinarily strong yarn, which is then wound onto spools ready for use.

Reliable Boa® fastening system

The Boa® fastening system improves the footwear’s security, stability, ease of use, durability and safety. Boa® has been tested in the most extreme conditions: water and sand, mud and dust, cold and heat – it can withstand it all.

Putting the boots on and taking them off is quick and easy, even with one hand or while wearing gloves. Boa® fastens the boots evenly and securely for the entire working day, allowing cable tension to be adjusted with millimetre precision. The boots feature an additional flap which, when spread apart, allows Boa® to release more easily.

The Boa® fastening system also improves safety: there are no loose laces that could become caught.

The strong Boa® steel cable consists of 49 extremely fine stainless steel strands covered by a durable nylon sheath. The Boa® fastening system is covered by a warranty until the end of the footwear’s service life.

Slip-resistant Michelin® rubber outsole

The parallel between tyre technology and technical footwear soles is as close as the connection between the soles of your feet and the ground. Michelin applies its expertise in materials and tread design to supply cutting-edge outsoles to footwear brands that demand the highest performance.

The boots’ rubber outsole is light, flexible and durable. Its rubber compound remains soft and flexible even below freezing, ensuring maximum ground contact and better slip resistance.

Functional tread pattern

The carefully designed and tested tread is functional: sharp lug edges and grooves provide slip resistance and improved grip, while sloped connections and cutting edges help shed mud and increase the sole’s abrasion resistance.

Soft, durable ETPU midsole

The extent of ground contact needed to improve slip resistance depends largely on the layer between the outsole and the foot. In these boots it is made from ETPU (Expanded Thermoplastic Polyurethane), which also prevents foot injuries, reduces fatigue, returns the energy generated with every step and looks like popcorn.

This low-density material regains its original shape. ETPU is made from lightweight, soft, highly shock-absorbing yet exceptionally durable expanded thermoplastic polyurethane.
