Innovative MATRYX® textile

MATRYX® is an innovative, patented textile that is extremely lightweight, exceptionally breathable, highly abrasion-resistant and moves naturally with the foot. Its unique breathability comes from a special process in which each individual yarn is coated instead of coating the entire fabric surface. This allows air to circulate freely. A high-quality mesh lining further improves ventilation inside the shoe.

The one-piece Vent 2 uppers are specially knitted for this shoe, with different knit densities depending on the area and its function. The toe section, which is subject to greater wear, is denser, while the sides feature a more open textile knit for increased flexibility and ventilation. An environmentally considerate dyeing process is used.

Functional sole

A high-quality OrthoLite® insole made of PU foam and mainly recycled materials enhances comfort.

The airy yet durable ETPU sole helps reduce fatigue and prevent injuries. ETPU is an exceptionally durable, long-lasting, airy and elastic microcellular plastic foam with a unique structure that efficiently absorbs and returns the impact energy generated when walking. It resembles popcorn and is made from expanded thermoplastic polyurethane. Lightweight, shock-absorbing, highly durable, soft and comfortable underfoot, ETPU is an excellent material for sole components in sports and work footwear.

Protection is provided by a flexible, lightweight puncture-resistant midsole (P) and low electrical resistance (A) (between 0.1-1000 megaohms). Energy absorption in the heel (20 J) cushions impacts. An integrated sole stabiliser supports the foot and helps prevent twisting.

The oil-resistant and slip-resistant (SRC) double-rubber outsole is also heat-resistant (HRO). Excellent grip is achieved through its special tread pattern and the way it changes across the sole. Flex grooves enhance mobility while drainage channels help keep the sole clean.

Durable and reliable Boa® fastening system

The BOA® fastening system improves both convenience and safety. There are no loose laces to catch on objects, and putting the shoes on and taking them off is quick and easy. BOA® is strong, secure and simple to use: lift the dial to release the cable. Put on the shoe, press the dial in and turn it towards the outside of the foot until the shoe fits securely. The fit then remains even and secure throughout the day. The BOA® closure is warranted for the lifetime of the footwear.

Metal-free protective components

Vent 2 shoes have an innovative nano-carbon composite safety toe cap. This material is 40% stronger than fibreglass (200J/1500N). Its thinner walls provide more room for the toes and greater comfort. The nano toe cap meets all international standards, including ASTM, CSA and EN125685. Solid Gear is the first safety footwear manufacturer in the world to make toe caps from nano-carbon composite, combining comfort, low weight and strong protection with innovative technology.

The soft, flexible puncture-resistant textile midsole protects against penetration by sharp objects and edges.
