A tick-treated cap is essential protective equipment for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors. The comfortable baseball cap is suitable for both men and women.

Windproof

The cap is made from windproof fabric (50 % polyester) and feels pleasantly soft against the head (also 50 % cotton).

UV 50+ protection

The cap fabric protects the head against UV radiation, while the comfortably sized peak shields the eyes from dazzling sunlight. The cap complies with the requirements of NEN 8333.

Permethrin repels ticks

Rovince tick-protective clothing is impregnated with permethrin. This widely used substance has been included in various products for decades, including ointments, insect repellents and even mattresses and curtains, where it has an antiparasitic effect.

Permethrin is a naturally occurring substance found in chrysanthemums that is toxic to ticks but, in small quantities, has no harmful effects on humans.

When a tick lands on the protective clothing, it experiences what is known as a 'hot feet' effect and falls off the fabric.

This is a passive form of protection. The substance stays securely in the fabric and is not released spontaneously into the environment. The clothing therefore has no distinctive odour, and unlike spray-on insect repellents, the substance cannot be inhaled into the lungs.

Tick-protective clothing is recommended only when entering areas where exposure is likely. This reduces the need for washing and helps the tick protection last longer.

The clothing is manufactured in accordance with the World Health Organization's guidelines and requirements. Rovince clothing has been dermatologically tested and complies with the Dutch standard for specially impregnated fabrics (NEN-8333). All fabrics are also Öko-Tex certified and therefore safe for people and the environment.

Tick protection lasts for 100 washes

Rovince tick-protective clothing is manufactured using a unique method. Whereas finished garments are normally treated with the protective substance, Rovince applies it at an earlier stage of production. The fabric is impregnated first and the garment is made from that fabric afterwards.

This provides more effective and longer-lasting protection because the substance stays more firmly in the fabric and only a very small amount is lost with each wash. The tick protection lasts for as many as 100 washes.
